Just five kilometres south of busy Bentota, Induruwa sits quietly on the same golden stretch of Indian Ocean coastline — with the same warm water, the same palm-fringed sands, and the same spectacular sunsets. The difference? Far fewer tourists, a more relaxed atmosphere, and a genuine sense of being somewhere real.

The Beach Itself
Induruwa Beach is a wide, clean stretch of golden sand backed by coconut palms. The sea is warm year-round — typically around 27–29°C — and the waves are gentle enough for swimming for most of the year. Unlike the more developed stretches of Bentota, Induruwa has no large resort hotels fronting the beach, which means you won't find it crowded with sunbeds and beach vendors. Just sand, palms, and the Indian Ocean.

Why We Love It More Than Bentota
Bentota is wonderful, but it's also busy. In peak season, the beach can feel crowded and the town itself is full of tourist traffic. Induruwa offers everything Bentota does — the beach, the water, the atmosphere — in a much more peaceful setting. You can walk the shoreline for 20 minutes and barely see another person. Local fishing boats still come in in the mornings. It feels like Sri Lanka actually is, rather than a packaged version of it.

Best Time to Visit
Induruwa Beach is at its best from November to April, when the southwest monsoon has passed and the seas are calm and clear. The water visibility is excellent for snorkelling during these months. May to October brings rougher seas — swimming is still possible but conditions are more variable. The beach is beautiful year-round and completely worth visiting even in the shoulder season.
Villa Estuary is just 300m from the beach. Our team can arrange sun loungers, beach towels and refreshments — just ask on arrival.
